Bond Updates …

Construction throughout Lapeer Community Schools during the summer of 2009 literally changed the landscape of the District.

For those who like lists, here are some of the major accomplishments:

  • Rolland-Warner Middle School completed

  • Cramton facility completed for Lapeer Community High School students, including a new gymnasium

  • A new auxiliary gym for Lapeer West High School completed

  • New science classrooms at Lapeer East High School completed

  • New science classrooms at Lapeer West High School completed

  • New bus loop and parking lot improvements at Mayfield Elementary School

  • Work started on Zemmer Middle School’s transformation

Custodians had their hands full working around the major construction projects at Lapeer East and Lapeer West, but their dedication and outstanding efforts will have all District schools clean and ready for students on September 8th.

In addition to the major construction work, District information technology employees were busy installing new computers in the new high school science laboratories, science rooms and computer labs at Rolland-Warner Middle School.

Nearly all this work was a result of the successful May 2007 bond measure. The only exception was the West gym, which was financed from money received from the sale of the District’s former administration building.

Two play structures at the now closed Hadley campus were moved to the Murphy campus. A play structure at Cramton, which was purchased by the Cramton-Turrill PTC, was moved to Turrill Elementary School.

Kids & Company play equipment at Cramton will shortly be moved to the new Rolland-Warner site, and a new play structure will be erected next to the new Kids & Company wing in a fenced yard.

To prepare a welcoming environment for the Murphy fifth- and sixth-grade students who will attend the Rolland-Warner campus in 2009-2010, swings and two basketball hoops will be moved to the campus for the students’ use.

The public is invited to a ribbon-cutting and open house ceremony at Rolland-Warner Middle School at 333 DeMille Boulevard in Lapeer at 6 PM on August 27th.
